Busy, busy, busy

We’ve been super busy working on the new house for the past 3 months.  It is taking TONS of work (by us as well as a lot of skilled people that we are paying to work hard.)  🙂  The house formerly known as the mustard mansion is now refered to as the chocolate milkshake.  (Thanks Sally)

Changes made:

  • Painted every room except the master closet (which is its own 11×12 room) and the laundry room
  • Painted the beach scene in Will’s nursery
  • Painted the garage
  • Added 2-piece crown moulding
  • Added tile backsplash
  • Put up tinting on the sliding glass doors
  • Replaced all of the carpets except for the playroom
  • Added french doors to the playroom
  • Extended the concrete patio
  • Added a gazebo
  • Separated one large room into a  foyer, a parlor, and an office
  • Added columns
  • Added a chandelier to the stairs
  • Installed baby gates at both ends of the stairs
  • Built a privacy wall in the master bathroom
  • Added a refrigerator
  • Added blinds to all of the windows
  • Fixed the repairs from the inspection
  • Added garage door openers and keypads
  • Added electricity, cable outlets. and readied above the fireplace for a tv and accessories by building cubbies for the accessories
  • Had a fence put up for the yard, trash cans, and A/C units
  • Added storage shelves to the garage
  • Added built-in cabinets and a bench added to the laundry room
  • Added shelving to the laundry room
  • Replaced our washer and dryer
  • Had built-in cabinets installed for the office
  • Put up a storage shed
  • Bought some rugs, random furniture, and other small things
  • Replaced our master bedroom fan
  • Installed a remote control for our master fan
  • Had the gutter moved above the bay window
  • Re-routed the gutters to underground
  • Had a thermostat moved from an inconvenient location on the wall
  • Replaced the microwave
  • Added a closet to Will’s playroom
  • Added cable outlets to almost all of the rooms
  • Replaced missing items (mirrors to bathrooms, remotes for fans, garage door openers)

We definitely made major progress and are pretty much done!  *We think* that we took a good house and made it great . . . at least it is great for us!   Will loves the new house.  He loves the freedom that he has and has been watching and imitating all of the workers.  We are going to raise a little handy man!  In the spring, we’ll tackle the outside.

He had his own paint brush and bucket for paint. He stole them from the painters. Luckily, they didn't mind and thought it was cute. :)
