Hanging with the Petrones

Will had never met Rob or the dogs, Bailey and Stella, so he was super stoked to get to hang out with Team Petrone at night.  Christie works in Harlem, which creates a line  . . . Harlem, mid-town, Brooklyn. . . so Christie would stop at our hotel on her way home and either just hang out in the city or we would all load up on the subway and head out to her apartment in Brooklyn.

The first night we went to visit, Will and the dogs had a great time running around.  The Steelers were on MNF, so Jim was “loving” all of the chaos.  🙂  We were there super late because of the football game, so Will fell asleep on Christie’s bed.  The dogs were so cute, they laid at his feet watching over him as he slept.  They were his little protectors.

After that first night, the dogs got used to Will being around, and it wasn’t as hectic.  One night Will and I spent the night out in Brooklyn without Jim.  Rob and Christie met us in the city for dinner, then Jim went back to the hotel, while the rest of us loaded on the subway.  We were at the last stop in Manhattan before crossing into Brooklyn and the train stopped.  After a while they came on to say that there was a police investigation going on at the next stop, so all trains were stopped waiting.   After about 20 min, they suggested that everyone should get off, go the opposite direction back towards the city 2 stops, then get on a different train into Brooklyn.  With a stroller, this was more work than we wanted to do, but we didn’t see another option.  We did that, and got on the 3rd train heading back towards Brooklyn, and it was also stopped due to the police investigation.  They told us to get on a 4th train, which then turned out to be delayed.  After an hour of switching trains, not moving, and now a screaming 1 year-old, we found out that ALL of the trains were stopped.  The police investigation was in the subway stop that all of the trains had to go through, so we just had to wait.  Since it had already been an hour, and it was now past Will’s bed time, we decided to exit the subway and take a taxi.  We were somewhere in lower Manhattan, but weren’t really sure of our exact location.  We were standing on the side of the street with 3 adults, 1 kid, 1 stroller, and 2 bags trying to hail a taxi at 10 pm.  We all had our hands up trying to hail a taxi, and we looked and Will had his hand up too.  It was too cute.  Finally 2 hours later, we made it to Christie’s apartment!  I know that Jim was glad that he decided to stay at the hotel.  🙂

In the morning Rob and Christie had to go to work, so it was just Will, Bailey, Stella, and I in the apartment together.  While I was getting ready, they had a great time running around together.  I put Will down for a nap, and the dogs watched after him while I showered.  Will loved his “cousins,” but he was cautiously curious about them.  He loved to run after them, be chased by them, watch them, taunt them, but when they licked him, he would jump back.  By the end of the week, Will was no longer afraid.  He would touch the dogs all over and let them lick him.  Thankfully, the dogs are SUPER gentle and tolerant!  It was so nice to see Team Petrone every day!
