Vegas

Will was excited to be visiting his 8th state!

Will was excited to be visiting his 8th state!

Don’t hate us, but we don’t really like Vegas.  We’ve been before and thought that we’d never go back.  Well, we did, but now we’re pretty sure that we won’t ever go back again.  🙂  Vegas is the kind of place that has something for just about everyone, but I guess we’re not everyone.  We promise that we won’t hold it against you if you like Vegas.  😉  Well we spent 4 days there, but we made sure that we got there late Friday night and left early Monday morning, so it was more like 2 days in Vegas.  I’m going to combine all of the highlights in this one blog, so here it goes . . .

Of course while in Vegas, you have to explore the strip.  Against Jim’s protests, we headed out.  About 3 hotels down, Will decided that he, too, hated Vegas and started screaming.  We turned around and headed back to our hotel.  It was actually kind of nice because he served as our “horn.”  People would turn to see who had the screaming baby, and we would scoot by them.

We have a picture to prove we were there. :)

Will has a propensity for pooping up his back, and he certainly did not hold back while we were on vacation!  In all of our hotels we had stacks of clothes in one of the sinks from where I had scrubbed several of his outfits.  Because of limited space in our bags for the plane, I only brought a finite number of outfits and pjs.  If Will made it through a day without ruining an outfit, I would through it into the diaper bag as an “extra” in case he didn’t make it through the next day poop free.  Pjs were not so easy.  He would wear the same pair until he got poop on them, and then we would break out the next pair.  We made it until Vegas before he officially pooped on all of his pjs.  So we headed to the nearest Walmart and bought him a new pair of pjs.

Aren't I cute in my new pjs?

We wanted to go hiking one of the days we were in town.  There were two places nearby that I had read about that both sounded good.  So since we were doing an exorbitant amount of driving on the trip, we opted to go to the closer of the two.  Spring Mountain Ranch State Park.  That was a huge mistake.  We got there, paid our $10 pp fee, loaded Will in the backpack, found the trail, and then burst out laughing.  There was one trail, and the sign at the trail head said, “Overlook Trail  1/8th mile.”  What?!?!  An eighth of a mile?!?  Are you kidding me?!?  After we “hiked” it, and hit the restrooms, we headed back to the car.  We checked our watches and we had been there for a grand total of 20 minutes.  What a waste!

Will was embarassed that we had loaded him in the hiking backpack for the short little trail. He did this himself.

We even explored the lake.

We also paused to enjoy the views . . . all in our 20 minutes. :)

Our hotel in Vegas did provide us with a crib.  They even inquired whether we had a son or daughter.  As you can see from the picture, they adorned the crib with a gender appropriate bumper.  Too bad it didn’t go all of the way around!  🙂  The hotel also did not have a bath tub or extra-large sink, so Will had his first shower.  It took all of us to manage to give one small human a shower.  He was really interested in grabbing the water.  The hardest part for us was how slippery he was.  We had 3 successful showers, but we think that we’ll wait a while before we give him another one.

Will also pooped on his sleep sack, so he slept in his new pjs sans sleep sack. Notice the lovely bumber.

"I know I can grab that water, I know I can!"

"Mom, why are you taking a picture of me in the shower? I'm naked!"

  1. I love the last picture! Jim is trying NOT to be in it and Will looks like he’s saying, “this better not end up on you tube mom!” It must run in the family…..I’m not crazy about Vegas either……seen it, done it, don’t need to return.
