Moab, UT

So we headed to Moab for Arches National Park.  A MUST SEE for anyone heading to the southwest!!!!  It was beyond words!  There are tons of great sights, but obviously what takes you there are the natural arches that have formed due to the elements.  The national park service says:

Arches National Park preserves over 2,000 natural sandstone arches as well as many other unusual rock formations. In some areas, the forces of nature have exposed millions of years of geologic history. The extraordinary features of the park create a landscape of contrasting colors, landforms and textures that is unlike any other in the world.

It is true . . . unlike any other in the world.  We were told by the hotel clerk to do the 3 mile hike to Delicate Arch.  Man was it worth it!  We rounded the corner and WOW!  We couldn’t believe how amazing it was.  We could have stayed all day just sitting and looking at it.  Leaving the parking lot at Delicate Arch, we ran into a little bit of car trouble.  We had driven over a piece of rebar that when we tried to back up, it started tearing a piece off of the bottom of the car.  Ultimately, we had to flag down a dad with his 2 teenage sons.  I sat in the car and reversed while Jim was lying underneath the car pushing up the piece that was being ripped off and the dad and sons were lifting up the front end of the car off of the ground.  Luckily, it worked and no one said anything when we returned the rental.  🙂  We went to see other arches and rock formations while we were in the park.  There was still snow on the ground, so there were a couple that we skipped just so we didn’t have to hike through the snow.  It was an amazing day!  We are so glad that we went!!

Double Arch . . . also super cool . . . even better because you didn't have to hike to it!

In addition to the arches, there were lots of other great sights inside the park.
